SOLCER House · 2015
Britain's first purpose-built energy-positive house.
SOLCER brought building fabric, heating, renewable generation, storage and controls into one integrated demonstrator. At the time, Ian was a director of Ecolek Wales and involved in the practical renewable-energy delivery. The project received national attention and later contributed to wider investment in low-carbon housing research and delivery.
Active Classroom · 2016
The UK's first energy-positive classroom.
Working as off-grid engineer with Solar Plants, Ian contributed to the design and installation of the solar-to-storage connection: 16 kWp of building-integrated solar, 60 kWh of saltwater battery storage and 24 kVA of inverter-charger capacity. The project became a working research building and received major Welsh construction and property awards.
